Kusōzu : Death Nine Stages is the second album by Archeus, a Tokyo-based trio comprising Keiko Higuchi (vocals, percussion, trombone, shamisen), Shizuo Uchida (four-string bass), and TOMO (hurdy-gurdy, vocals). Their self-titled debut album, released on CD and cassette in 2021, featured four tracks of dense, expansive improvisation. For this release, the group drew inspiration from *Kusouzu*—Buddhist paintings depicting the nine stages of bodily decomposition—to structure nine improvised tracks. The entire work—comprising nine songs and a 33-minute runtime—distills everything they wish to convey into a concise form, stripped of all superfluity. Limited to 325 pieces.

『九相図 : Death Nine Stages』は、ヒグチケイコ (voice, percussion, trombone, 三味線）、内田静男（4 strings）、TOMO（hurdy gurdy, voice）からなる東京のトリオ、Archeus（アルケウス）のセカンド・アルバム。2021年にCD及びカセットでリリースされたグループ名を冠したデビュー・アルバムでは濃密で拡張された即興演奏が4トラック収録されていた。今回は仏教の修行のひとつとして死体が腐敗していく様を9つの段階で絵画にしたもの「九相図」をイメージの鍵とし、９つのトラックを即興演奏。で全9曲、収録時間33分という構成の中に、語るべきことのすべてが凝縮されており、余計なものは一切無し。限定325枚。
