Spiral code is the second album released on An’archives by the Japanese trio Archeus. It’s also the most staggering evidence yet of the single-minded pursuit of group-sound explored by Keiko Higuchi (voice, drums, percussion, trombone), Shizuo Uchida (4 strings), and TOMO (hurdy gurdy). For two tracks, they’re joined by Kiyotaka Moriuchi on percussion and darbuka. Always able to scour magic from both their relationships with their instruments, and their non-idiomatic interplay, on spiral code they’ve widened their net further; the results oscillate from humid and claustrophobic blocks of noise to rivulets of tone coursing across post-volcanic landscapes, and on into simple gestures suspended in arctic space. When asked about the music archeus makes together, TOMO is quick to isolate the singular characteristics of their collaboration: “we are trying to explore some new, unknown musical vocabulary every time we play. And what we are trying to achieve from every session is something unique, an interesting chemistry or, I should say, alchemical reaction among the three of us.”

ヒグチケイコ (vocals)、内田静男 (4 strings)、TOMO (hurdy gurdy)の３人によるユニット・arcehus（アルケウス）の7枚目のアルバム。前作”Kusōzu : Nine Death Stages”に続き、スタジオライブレコーディングで、フランスの"An'archivesよりアナログフォーマットでのリリース。
これまで、全編インプロビゼーションによる演奏のダイナミックな展開の中に、錬金術的な響きを携え、音楽を予期せぬ領域へと押し進めながらも、楽器との関係性や、既存の様式に縛られない相互のやり取りの中から常に魔法のような響きを紡ぎ出してきたarcheusが、本作ではその表現の幅をさらに拡張。そのサウンドは、湿り気を帯びた閉塞感のあるノイズの塊から、火山活動後の荒涼とした大地を流れる音の細流、さらには極寒の空間に静止したかのようなシンプルな身振りに至るまで、多彩に揺れ動きます。
「awakening, beyond recurrence」と「where points and lines intersect」の２曲では、沼尾翔子やEnsembleShippollyなどと共演経験を持つ即興演奏家、森内清敬がパーカッションとダルブッカ(東南アジアで広く演奏されるゴブレット型の太鼓)で参加。
スタジオレコーディング即興６トラックを収録。アナログフォーマットでのリリースで290枚限定。シルクスクリーンジャケット、３色の帯、インサートとポストカード、ダウンロードコード封入。
